ABOUT MARK MAYNARD

Mark Maynard is a lifelong conservative, small business owner, and West Virginia State Senator representing Southern West Virginia.

Raised in a Republican family deeply rooted in local politics, Maynard was introduced to public service early. He grew up attending campaign events and party meetings alongside family members who served in Republican leadership roles at the county and state level. He registered as a Republican at 18, when it wasn’t popular, and has never looked back.

Maynard began his formal political involvement in 2004, when he joined the Wayne County Republican Executive Committee and was soon appointed Chairman. In that role, he rebuilt the local party infrastructure, organized monthly meetings, and led years of grassroots fundraising efforts.

In 2014, Maynard took on a 32-year incumbent, the longest-serving senator in West Virginia history, and won, helping flip the State Senate and end more than 80 years of Democrat control in Charleston. He began his first term in 2015 and has since become one of the Senate’s most trusted conservative leaders.

Throughout his tenure, Maynard has chaired multiple key committees, including Legislative Rule-Making Review, Natural Resources, Government Organization, Outdoor Recreation, and currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Transportation Infrastructure Committee. His work has focused on cutting red tape, holding state agencies accountable, expanding outdoor recreation, improving infrastructure, and pushing for long-overdue projects like the completion of Interstate 73/74 through Southern West Virginia.

In addition to his legislative work, Maynard has played a key leadership role within the Republican Party. He previously served as West Virginia Co-Chairman for President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign, helping organize grassroots support and build connections that continue to benefit Southern West Virginia today.

Outside the Capitol, Maynard is a small business owner who took over his family’s service business and still operates a towing service today. That hands-on, blue-collar work keeps him connected to the people he represents and grounded in the real-world impacts of government decisions. Cars and racing have been a lifelong passion for Maynard. He grew up around his family’s service stations and spent his childhood immersed in the world of vehicles from working around the shop to building model cars and learning how things work through hands-on experience. That background helped shape both his path as a small business owner and his practical approach to transportation and infrastructure policy.

A man of strong Christian faith, Maynard is actively involved in churches across his district and works closely with community and faith-based organizations to help families in crisis access state resources when they need it most.

He is a proud girl-dad and believes public service should always be about helping people. Senator Maynard is a problem-solver who shows up, gets his hands dirty, and fights every day for the people of Southern West Virginia.
